Please join us on Thursday, August 18th from 6-8pm for in-person networking at The Country Club CM. While this event is free to members & non-members alike, we ask that you consider giving back to this month's charity partner: Heritage Elementary School with a new backpack!
Heritage Elementary School in the Garden Grove School District has been identified as one of the lowest income schools in Orange County. It has a diverse population with about 600 low-income students; 95% of students qualify for the free lunch program. It also has the highest drop out rate in the county. The school and students lack basic resources compared to other low-income schools in the nation.
Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) has partnered with Code to the Future, the nation’s premier creator of computer science immersion schools, to launch the district’s first Computer Science Immersion Academy at Heritage Elementary School beginning in 2018-2019. All students who attend Heritage will be part of the Computer Science Immersion Academy, learning programming, robotics, coding, and other computer programming skills as part of their daily instruction.
Heritage Elementary Computer Science Academy was recognized for successful PBIS implementation at the PLATINUM level! This exceptional accomplishment granted by the California PBIS Coalition reflects Heritage's excellence in implementing the core features of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) which lead to a supportive and welcoming school culture! Heritage is committed to providing students with an outstanding learning environment that helps students achieve both academic and personal goals including positive behavior at school.
